A Democrat, he represented the state's 35th district, which encompasses many Southeast island communities, including Hoonah, Sitka, Kake, Klawock, Craig, Angoon, and Petersburg. Kreiss-Tomkins is the Democratic nominee in the 2026 Alaska gubernatorial election.
