Crosstab Live Tonight: Florida Tightens, Ohio Holds Steady
Transcript
Maya Good evening and welcome to Crosstab Live Tonight. We start in Florida, where a brand new St. Pete Polls survey has Republican Ashley Moody up two points over Nixon in the Senate race.
Daniel That's right, Maya. Moody at 47, Nixon at 45 in this single poll. But our full crosstab average still has Moody ahead by 5.4 points.
Maya So the new poll is tighter than the average. Daniel, how do we read that gap?
Daniel We just let the average absorb it. One poll doesn't move 5.4 points on its own, and it hasn't tonight.
Maya Fair enough. We've got five new polls on the wall tonight, Daniel. Let's keep moving, starting with Ohio's Senate special.
Daniel Co/efficient has Husted at 44, Brown at 43. That's within 1 point in this poll. The average still has Brown up 3.5.
Maya A race we're watching, no question. Any real movement there since the last update?
Daniel A small one. Brown's average margin ticked down half a point. Ohio's governor race moved too, Acton now up 3.9, down from 4.9. And Florida's governor race tightened 0.6 points toward Donalds.
Maya That Florida governor number, Daniel, what did the new poll there actually show?
Daniel Dead even. Jolly 45, Donalds 45. The average still has Donalds ahead by 3.1 points statewide.
Maya Let's head to North Carolina, where East Carolina University just weighed in on the Senate race.
Daniel Cooper 50, Whatley 43. That's a seven-point edge in this poll, and the average now has Cooper up 8.9.
Maya Let's zoom out, Daniel. Where does the national picture stand tonight?
Daniel Trump's approval sits at 38.4 percent, disapproval 60.1. The generic ballot has Democrats at 50.9, Republicans at 42.1. And Democrats have a 67 percent chance of winning Senate control, with 52 seats most likely. Maya, which of those numbers are you keeping an eye on?
Maya The generic ballot, honestly. Before we go, let's flag Nevada's governor race, Ford and Lombardo, with thirteen polls in and no clear leader yet.
Maya That's Crosstab Live Tonight. Join us again at 8 a.m. Eastern tomorrow.
